Last Day of Savings Roundup

One of my favorite things about a holiday weekend is all the sales that come with it! Unfortunately for us, it all comes to an end too quickly. For a lot of the deals, today is the last day to save and I didn’t want you guys to miss out.

Here are my four favorite deals going on right now from my favorite retailers!

Target: 20% off clothing, shoes, and accessories

If you know anything about me you know that if I could shop at one store for the rest of my life it would without a doubt be Target.

If I could recommend picking anything up from the sale it would be a pair of Wenda cutout booties by Universal Thread. I’ve raved about these before in several of my blog posts. Not to mention the one where I share they are a dupe of a $198 shoe! You might be sick of me talking about them, but they are hands down my favorite pair of shoes I’ve ever owned. I just can’t stop recommending these. Throwing these on with jeans and a simple top instantly makes me feel put together. They originally retail for $32.99, so adding the extra 20% savings definitely sweetens the already awesome deal!

A new discovery for me is this AMAZING faux leather jacket from the new Wild Fable line at Target. This is not the last time you will be hearing me talk about this piece. It can be hard to find a good quality faux leather jacket on a budget, but look no further! For anyone who is iffy about the hanging belt just know that it is actually removable as seen in the try on photo. I’m not a fan of it my self and will likely remove it permanently. I’m wearing a small in the photo, but I ended up sizing down to an extra small because I wanted it a little more fitted in the arms.

World Market: 30% Almost Everything Friends and Family Sale

I’ll never have a hard time finding anything at World Market. Whether you’re looking for a cute new fall accessory or decor piece for your home you really just can’t go wrong saving 30% off your purchase. Just use the code: FAMFRIENDS30 at checkout.

American Eagle: 30-60% Off Everything (Including Jeans)

Aside from Target’s Universal Thread line, American Eagle is one of the only stores I can actually buy jeans that I enjoy. Now is the perfect time to start thinking about stocking up on Christmas gifts too! If someone you know always puts jeans on their Christmas list, take advantage of this sale and get a head start on your Christmas shopping! Check out the awesome deals here!

Urban Outfitters: Flash 50% Off Product Sale

Urban Outfitters is my one my favorite stores, but it’s actually one I don’t shop at too often simply because of the price point. So whenever there is a sale (especially 50% off one), it’s time to get the wallet ready!

This top-rated macrame piece really stood out to me! Originally $39.00, just $19.50 after the deal.

Are you planning on taking advantage of any of the holiday sales? Let us know if I missed any good ones.

Beauty Steals Of the Month

If you aren’t familiar with Ulta’s 21 Day’s of Beauty from Sept 2- Sept 22, Ulta picks 3-4 products and offer 50% off each product for a one day only special. I checked out their 21 Day’s of Beauty ad and wanted to share my recommendations with you guys!

They started off the sale with a huge BANG. Too Faced’s Hangover RX primer known in the beauty world as one of the top primers on the market, is on sale for just $17. It’s definitely worth checking out especially if you are a dry skin girl like me. It feels so hydrating and has amazing reviews! Don’t forget it’s only on sale today, so if you’re interested DO NOT HESITATE.

Hangover Primer

Aside from the primer, there are a couple products from the sale that stood out to me that I’ve heard amazing things about and plan on picking up.

On Sept 5th, Benefit’s Hoola and Hoola Lite Bronzers are on sale for $15, regularly $30. Even if you already have this now is a great time to stock up before you hit pan. I’ve actually never owned this bronzer and think it’s the time to finally change that. Who doesn’t need a new bronzer in their life?

Lip Paint

Tarte’s Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint’s are only $10 on September 6th. I have the color “delish”, but there are 23 different shades to choose from. These would make a great birthday or Christmas gift!

Two other great Tarte product’s are their mascaras. You can pick up the Lights Camera Lashes or the their Tarteist Lash Paint for $11 on September 15th. I own the Lights Camera Lashes Mascara, and it is such a game changer. It doesn’t clump up on my lashes and gives them awesome length (which is so hard because my lashes take some serious work). It is such a great mascara at drugstore price, guys!

On September 16th, the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette will be just under $25 at only $24.50. You just can’t beat these prices. Stock up now and save on Christmas gifts, your friends and family will adore you!

Makeup Setting Spray

The last deal that really stood out to me falls on their last day of the sale- September 22! It’s the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray for only $16. This product is so worth investing in. From my prospective, I don’t spend all this money on makeup to not get the full lifetime of application every time I wear it. Right?

Those are my top 6 favorite deals from the Ulta Beauty Sale! All the ones I shared with you today are available online and in store. If you’re planning on picking any of these up in store try to arrive close to open because I wouldn’t doubt they would sell out quick. If you are planning on shopping online they offer Free Standing Shipping $50 and over.

What do you think of the sale this time, gals? Have you had a chance to check out the 21 Days of Beauty ad? I’m going to link it here so you can see all the other products on sale. Is their a beauty fave of yours included in the sale that I’m missing out on? Leave it in the comments below, so I can check it out!

New Colors Added In Target’s Amazing Free People Dupe

Welcome back, gals! I made a quick Target run yesterday, and guess what I spotted? Target added two new colors of their Wenda Cut Out Booties by Universal Thread!

These booties are known across the internet as dupes for the Free People Royale Flats (fashion bloggers favs)! And let me tell you the dupes definitely live up to the hype! I mentioned these booties along with four other Free People dupes in a previous post. The FP Royale version retails for $198, whereas the Target ones are only $32.99.

I own these in the “Cognac color”, and they are my absolute favorite shoes. I love to pair them with skinny jeans and just a cute tee shirt. Adding these fun shoes always gives me a little extra something to my outfit! I’m definitely going to be ordering another color or two. The reviews say to size down, but I’m generally a size 8 and I sized up to an 8 and 1/2 and they fit perfectly.

I hadn’t seen anything about them adding new colors online, so I was super excited to see the new editions in store.

Now they come in a gorgeous cognac, white, tan, and black! As a side note, I will say if you’re shopping online that the tan definitely looks lighter in person. I am going to try to go back and get a photo in person to compare the different shades for you gals.

Spring Free People Dupes from Target

Spring Free People Dupes From Target - get the look for less.

Calling all gals on a budget! Have you been swooning over gorgeous Free People pieces, but you just can’t bring yourself to drop huge chunks of change to keep up with the trends?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Free People and would love to be able to splurge on their quality pieces. But that is just not my reality. Just like many of you, I need to stretch my dollar further than that. Instead of missing out, I went on the hunt for things that will allow me to get the same look for less money. Luckily, I found amazing dupes! Even better, I found them all from Target!

If you don’t know a “dupe” is an affordable look alike. The term “dupe” was popularized by the beauty community, but it can apply to anything that is a cheaper version of a similar product.

Target has been crushing the affordable style game this season! Whether it is the Opalhouse line duping Anthropologie, the Hunter X Target collection or these Free People look-alikes Target is sure to keep all you ladies  “balling on a budget”.

Some items I’m about to share are exact style dupes and others are similar but may be slightly off in either color or shape. I’m confident they will all give you the same look for less.

Without further ado, let’s get into the five dupes!

Spring Free People Dupes From Target - get the look for less.

Spring Free People Dupes From Target - get the look for less.

I see all kinds of fashion bloggers posting outfit of the day’s in these gorgeous Free People flats. So I was so incredibly excited when I saw that Target had an affordable option!

Out of all the dupes I have to share with you, these are the most spot on to the original. Though worth mentioning, Free People’s version is genuine leather and currently is offered in 9 colors. So if you’re looking for a pair of shoes that will hold up, these certainly don’t have a reputation for no reason.

The Universal Thread version is offered in an “Ivory” and “Cognac” color. I’ve been lusting over these shoes and I am impatiently waiting for a restock. If they are in your size, R-U-N! You just can’t beat saving $165!

Hats off to Target for allowing us affordable babes to channel our inner fashion blogger in these cutout booties.

This pair of wrap sandals is the second similarity I found in the Universal Thread line from Target. Even though they aren’t a perfect match to the first pair of shoes you can still get the same look with the cheaper version and save $58.01!

A strappy pair of black sandals is such a basic spring essential! Pair them up with a cute sundress or a simple tank and denim jeans. Effortless!

Straw bags are having their moment! All the stores are selling them, and all the influencers are carrying them.

Not only can you carry one of these fun totes to the beach but adding one of these fun bags will give a spring flare to any outfit.

Straw Handbag: To Invest In     For Less

Just for fun, I added up the total if you were to buy all five items from each store. The Free People total was $500 exact! And drumroll please… the Target total was $110.95! You could literally buy all five of these items from Target and still not spend as much as you would on the Free People Royale Flats alone.

I hope you guys loved this post today as much as I loved creating it! As you know, I love to shop for less. That is why I love sharing with you guys ideas on how you can still dress cute and trendy while maintaining your budget.

A Day Trip To Charlotte, NC |24 Hour Guide Thrifting, Sushi, and Entertainment

One of my new year’s goals this year was to go on more little adventures. That desire coupled with my husband’s obsession for Joe Rogan prompted this adventure I’m going to share with you guys.

My husband and I made a mini road trip to Charlotte, NC! We stayed in Charlotte for the night and explored the city together Saturday and Sunday.

After our three-hour road trip, we made it to our hotel in Uptown Charlotte just around lunchtime. We spontaneously decided to take a short walk to the nearest Chipotle.

I grew up walking around Chicago, so I was expecting a similar feel to Charlotte. And I will say, I was totally wrong. Charlotte is definitely more “low key” if that makes sense. It’s not as touristy. On our walk there and back we maybe encountered a handful of people total.

One thing Mike and I were both thrown off by on our walk is we kept passing by a ton of abandoned lime green bikes. We ended up googling why people just abandon the bikes and found out that with LimeBike you don’t have to return them to a docking station like the competing bike share companies. We both thought that was cool!

I then convinced Mike to check out The Sleepy Poet Mall with me. At over 55,000 square feet, this place is absolutely massive. It is most definitely jam-packed with all kinds of treasures (I even literally lost my husband at one point).  Our phones didn’t have service, and I thought I was seriously just going to have to meet him in the car. We were both checking out all the different vendors. He even enjoyed looking through all the stuff which says a lot because he isn’t a thrifter.

Unfortunately, we only had an hour before we had to go to dinner, so I didn’t get to check out nearly the entire store. I could honestly spend days in here and still not see everything. But, I still wanted to share with you a few of the cool things I found! It was literal thrift store heaven (aside from the antique prices).

You may recognize this photo I shared in my Spring favorites, but I was so excited to share my boots with you I didn’t get to share how beautiful I think this vintage kilim rug is. But because it was so worn and pricey, I skipped on it. My new mission is to find a beautiful rug in a “regular” thrift store. Stay tuned.

How epically weird is this devil walking post?!? It’s one of those things I’d categorize as “creepy cool”. If this isn’t a conversation piece, I don’t know what is.

In a section with a lot of mid-century modern furniture, I found this brass unicorn. I could imagine this styled in an eclectic living room or even a little girl’s nursery. Super gorgeous, but at $95, it is unfortunately out of my price range. There is nothing wrong with gathering inspiration while shopping and finding similar pieces elsewhere.

Mike found this amazing section of Life magazines. The earliest dating back to the 30’s. There was a whole other section to the right of this photo featuring editions from the 80’s and above. We enjoyed looking through all the old headlines. These old magazines would look amazing framed as wall decor. I love using different art mediums as wall art.

For dinner, we went to my favorite sushi restaurant, Cowfish. We first discovered Cowfish on our vacation to Universal Studios last winter. When I found out there was in Charlotte I knew we had to go back! Cowfish essentially offers just burgers and sushi- but are you ready? They offer burgushi! Which you can probably guess is a mix of burgers and sushi.

One tip I have if you’re planning on going to this Cowfish location is if you’re quoted a long wait time just sit down in the waiting area near the bar and wait for someone to get up. The bar is full service and instead of waiting 45 minutes we waited under 5 minutes!

Their classic sushi is so good I just couldn’t order anything else. I love their nigiri (the yellowtail is my favorite), but this time I got three salmon and three yellowtail. They serve the nigiri a la carte here, which just means you pay per piece of sushi you order. I paid three dollars each piece of sushi I ordered.

We had tickets for The Joe Rogan’s Strange Times Comedy Show at 10:30. Spoiler alert:  I had an absolute blast! This was my first comedy show ever. What originally sparked the weekend trip was Joe Rogan’s tour. As I mentioned, my husband is a huge Joe Rogan fan. So much so that I thought there was a good chance he might leave me for Joe that night.

We had been informed via email a day before the show that we weren’t allowed to have our phones. I wasn’t sure how they were going to enforce this rule, but the technology actually impressed me. They had individual phone pouches by a company called Yondr. The pouch has a lock at the top that locks closed like a magnet almost. It reminded me of clothing security tags. There was also an area dedicated to unlocking the phone with the device in case of an emergency.

I absolutely loved being disconnected for awhile; it was so nice to just focus on the moment. I highly recommend if you have a chance to check out the show!

The next morning was Easter Sunday. I still had several places on my list that I wanted to check out.

We decided to go to the Southpark Mall next to the restaurant we had dinner at. Unfortunately, they closed down the entire mall for the day because of the holiday. Even though we weren’t able to check it out you can tell from the outside it is a super “fancy” mall. I was so looking forward to checking out the Lucky store, but I guess I’ll have to wait to explore this mall until next time.

Then it dawned on me to google the places I wanted to go to see if they were open. The main one I wanted to check out was Buffalo Exchange, but they were closed too. Buffalo Exchange is a clothing resale store that buys and sells used clothes. I have never shopped in one before, but plan to in the future.

If you plan on going to Charlotte to explore, definitely make sure not to go on a holiday because it seems like a lot of the town shuts down. Aside from places like Target of course, but whenever I visit somewhere new I like to check out things that I can’t at home. Go on a regular weekend and you’ll be golden!

Even though I am disappointed we didn’t get to check out more thrift stores and small businesses, I am still so happy we went to Charlotte for a lil’ mini adventure. We loved walking around exploring uptown Charlotte.

If all goes as planned this is just the start of our adventures this year. There is a quote that has stuck with me since I discovered it, “Before it’s your favorite place, it’s a place you’ve never been”.

Hopefully, this post inspired you to visit somewhere new! Have you been to Charlotte, NC before? Tell me all your favorite spots (so I can check them out next time)! Extra points if you share your favorite local thrift store.

Spring Favorites- Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle- The Galista

Gals! As you all know I am all about living on a budget, so unfortunately I am not always trying out new products. That is why when I do discover new favorites that I love (and think are worth the money), I can not wait to share them with you guys!

I always enjoy hearing what everyone else is loving that way I know what is worth checking out. Over the past few months, I’ve been slowly discovering new things. Today I have fashion, beauty, and lifestyle favorites to share with you guys.

I am always swooning over countless pairs of boots, and it’s been awhile since I’ve updated my collection. I didn’t have any short boots that did not have a heel. So when it came to everyday situations I had all these cute shoes that I couldn’t wear for long periods of time. Thankfully for my birthday this year my husband gave me two new pairs of ankle booties. I hunted all over for the first pair which is the Lucky Brand Basal Booties in “Toffee”.

Lucky Brand boots are just my jam, though buyers beware they run narrow for what I’m used to. I definitely recommend if you’re going to buy a pair try them on in store somewhere. I normally wear a size 8, but I picked up a size 8.5M. They do carry wide sizes, but when I tried on a 8W it was too wide. Opting for the 8.5 regular worked for me.

The second pair I actually found while looking for the Basal booties, and I decided I just had to have them as well. They are the Born Bowlen booties in “Dark Brown”. I love the side faux tie-up detail to these. They also have these in a “Rust” color on the Born website. I am so upset I didn’t see the rust color in store. I have never really been one of those “if you like it buy it in every color” people, but I may just have to be this time.

Another fashion favorite of mine is cuffing my jeans. I always wear skinny jeans and there is just something about the combo of cuffed jeans and my new ankle booties that just works. Cuffing the ends just ties my whole look together.

I used to always use the Anastasia Brow Wiz ($21.99), but I recently lost it on a flight back home. I had heard really great things about the NYX Micro Brown Pencil ($9.99) in “Brunette”, and I finally picked it up to try. Honestly, I can’t tell the difference between the high end and drug store. Which is amazing because that’s a $12 savings! They even have the same amount of product. If you’re a fan of the Anastasia one, I definitely think you should check out this dupe!

When it comes to lip colors I normally tend to gravitate towards more everyday colors. In this photo, I’m wearing the NYX Soft matte lip cream in “London”. It is definitely my new favorite lip product! It is just so comfortable and easy to throw on. I don’t even have to worry about wearing a lip liner, and it doesn’t make my lips feel like desert central. Thank goodness! This product stays in my purse- it’s just that good!

My first lifestyle favorite is the Bath and Body Works Scentportable. If you’ve never seen one of these before it’s just Bath and Body’s take on air fresheners for the car. Someone gifted one of these to me a few years ago, but it ended up getting lost in an old car. I had completely forgotten about how amazing these are until I got into my friend’s car, and she had two of these in it. The second I opened her door I could smell the freshener.

I specifically love the “Vanilla Bean” scent. If you’re into your car smelling like cupcakes 24/7 (and can resist the urge of eating a cupcake every day), I recommend you check this product out.

You may not know this about me, but I am a total “foodie”. Gardetto’s are my go-to snack of the month. I simply cannot keep a bag of these for more than a few days. The Gardetto’s garlic rye crisps used to be my go to road trip snack. But, I have just been hooked on the original recipe lately. Is it just me or do you guys go through phases with totally obsessing over a food or drink until you’ve made yourself sick of it?

Another food favorite that I’ve discovered this month is Mod Pizza. If you have a Mod Pizza in your area, I strongly suggest you check it out. It’s basically like a Subway, but the focus is on really fast and delicious pizza.

My regular is the mod size “Dillion James” which consists of a red sauce, mozzarella, asiago, fresh basil, garlic and fresh tomatoes. I usually like to add a little extra basil, a light drizzle of olive oil and parmesan cheese. I’m a thin crust gal, and this pizza is one of the best I have ever had. Which is saying a lot (because I am a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur). The workers have even started to recognize me and my order. Oops!

Along with my pizza, I always get their Blackberry Lemonade. I feel like this drink is just not talked about enough. I’ve never had a lemonade as good at this one. I genuinely wish they sold this in gallons, so I could have a constant stock of this at home.

Another thing I love about Mod Pizza is it is located in the same strip as a restaurant that is keto friendly. At the beginning of the year, my husband switched to the keto diet. In general, going out to eat together is really hard. There was initially a bit of a learning curve on how we could still do date nights. Because of the location we can each order our food and then we sit in the outdoor dining area and eat our meal together. And I get my yummy pizza! Win-win!

It is the time of year for spring cleaning. Thankfully for Christmas, my in-laws gifted Mike and I the Shark Navigator Lift Away Professional. It has been a total LIFE CHANGER! I had no idea the difference between a cheap vacuum and an expensive one. I figured they would perform pretty much the same. Boy, was I 110% wrong. Vacuum lines were things of mythical creation before. It all makes sense to me now.

In my house, the couch is the piece of furniture that sees the highest traffic. What I love about the vacuum, in particular, is the lift away feature. If you didn’t know I have two pugs (who are total couch potatoes) and cleaning this couch before this vacuum was nearly impossible. Before it would take me hours of frustration to try to get all the hair off of the couch. Now I can easily unlock the top portion of the base and give my couch a thorough clean.

What are some things you’ve been loving this month? Do we have any of the same favorites?

Meet Bella and Zoey

Happy National Puppy Day, y’all!

I thought this would be the perfect time to introduce you to my two pugs, Bella and Zoey. The one thing everyone who knows me in “real life” is that I am completely obsessed with my dogs. They are my life. So, I’m going to introduce you to each of them and tell you each of their stories.

The pug love in my family goes really deep. My aunt Michelle was the first in our family to get a pug. Her baby, Vula, made everyone fall in love with pugs. We were hooked. A few years later my family adopted our pug, Verna, who unfortunately passed this past April. She was my absolute world. One pug just simply wasn’t enough for me, I needed another. Which brings me to my first pups story:

A coworker at the time tagged me in a Facebook post that was advertising black pugs for sale, so I got in contact with the seller. Just in time because he only had one left.

When my mom and I went to pick her up she was unfortunately not in a well taken care of home. Even though some people may get upset when they learn I bought her and didn’t adopt her, I don’t regret it at all. Bella’s mom was overbred, and I just couldn’t imagine leaving her knowing that could be her future. Besides I honestly can’t imagine my life without her. I am a firm believer in all dogs deserve a good home.

January 27, 2015: I brought Bella home.

March 30, 2016: Bella made her first long road trip to live with her new dad in North Carolina. (Mike didn’t know it yet, but this was the beginning of his pug love).

Fun Fact: Bella likes to dig for ages only when she gets in bed at night.

One day my friend, Adalina, tagged me in a post about a dog that had been abandoned on a busy street where we live. Luckily, a member of a local rescue was able to get her away from the traffic.

Originally I didn’t know if we should take on another dog mainly because I didn’t think my husband would want another. Get this, he was the driving force behind adopting her! He immediately said yes. The guy who wasn’t sure if he even wanted a dog had officially been converted to a pug enthusiast.

Because of the law, we had to wait a holding period before we could adopt Zoey. In the meantime, Zoey’s foster mom brought her over to my house, so I could see how Bella and Zoey interacted with each other.

September 24, 2016: We brought Zoey home. Bella got a sister, and she wasn’t sure how she felt about it.

A crazy story about this day is literally minutes after we adopted her from the rescue we, unfortunately, got into an accident that totaled the first car I bought for myself. Thankfully we were all okay! My dog mom instincts had already kicked in, and I clung to her for dear life. That didn’t stop me from hysterically crying in a random parking lot that she was going to hate us forever.

Fun Fact: She was originally named Frankie by her foster family. Mike and I came up with the name Zoey because we didn’t think Frankie fit her. Because Frankie and Zoey have similar ending sounds we were able to teach her the new name easily.

There you have it! That is how I became a dog mom of two beautiful babies. Even when they are fighting for attention, they are BFF’s.

I hope learning about my dogs allowed you to get to know me a little better.

If you’ve made it this far I can only assume you’re a fellow dog mom/dog dad and you understand the dog love is real! Please leave me a comment with a pic of your sweet dogs, I genuinely would love nothing more than to look at your cute furry babes! What’s their story?
